Varmahlíð lies on the National Road #1 and has the Tourist Information Center for the area. There is also a shop, bank/auto bank, post office, hotel, a community center swimming pool/sports center.

There is an easy walk up to the top of the hill Reykjarhól which offers a good lookout point, with a pleasant stroll through the woods owned by the Forestry Department. Activities like horse rent and river rafting are also available.
