The Icelandic Horse Centre is an international knowledge and education centre for the history of the Icelandic horse. In the summer of 2010, the first of altogether three phases of the Centre’s exhibition about the Icelandic horse will be launched, at Hólar in Hjaltadalur. In addition there will be an exhibition of photographs showing the horse in Iceland’s picturesque nature.

The photo exhibition Of Horses and People, a joint project of The Horse Centre and the Skagafjörður Archives, will be open to the public during the summer of 2010, at the Hotel Varmahlíð.

The Horse Centre also collects and preserves information on the Icelandic horse, conducts research and organises various educational events, such as seminars and conferences as well as putting up specialised exhibitions, both domestically and abroad.

Furthermore, The Horse Centre runs a Horse Theatre. In the summer of 2010 the Centre will be organising a number of different events at Hólar in Hjaltadalur. For further information regarding those check the Centre’s web site, > Events.
